In the 'other' World Cup, Nigeria took the honours after a hard-fought final against Greece.
Instead of South Africa, pupils from P4 to P7 enjoyed the sunny climes of Auldhouse Playing Fields in Thornliebank for full day of football frenzy. Divided randomly into 32 teams and managed by secondary pupils, the teams played in their groups before entering the knock-out phase.
Despite the apparent informality, there was a steely determination in the eyes of each P7 captain. Diving and over-zealous play were discouraged and fancy facepaint welcomed, but there was no doubting the will to win!
