In April, Robyn Smith [S2] competed at her first International Equestrian Federation competition as part of the Great Britain squad. The event, which took place at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire, is an individual competition for pony riders 16 years and under.
Competitors from several European countries took part, including France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Spain. Robyn gained a great deal from her experience, says her mother, and finished a creditable 7th in the third of her competitions.
Robyn and her pony, Siepke's Celtic, took part in another International in May, in Moorsele, Belgium, where she competed in the Pony Team Competition (CDIOP) for Great Britain.
After a nervous first competition, Robyn was the best of the British in the second of the competitions, and again best of the British in the third competition, finishing eighth, in very strong competition, with Sweden, Luxembourg France, Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands and Switzerland also represented.
The final selection trials for inclusion in the squad to train for the European Championships, takes place in June at Hickstead, near Brighton.
