S2 Pupil is Local Rowing Star

Euan Malone [S2]Euan Malone, who's in S2 at Hutchesons', has had a successful year combining roles as a cox with sculling at U13/U14 level for Glasgow Schools, culminating in his selection as cox for the Scottish girls U18 Eight for the Home Countries International regatta in Cork, Ireland, in July.

Other highlights of Euan's rowing year include:

  • Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships - Junior Under 13 - Bronze medal - January 2010.
  • Scottish Schools Head Race - junior under 15 coxed fours -Winner - March 2010.
  • Strathclyde Park Regatta - April 2010: Winner ,Junior under 16 eight; Winner, Junior under 13 double sculls; Winner, Junior under 18 eights (cox).
  • Scottish Rowing Championships - June 2010: Gold medallist, Junior under 13 quad sculls; Gold medallist, Junior under 18 eights (cox); Silver medallist, Junior under 13 double sculls.
  • Henley Women's Regatta - June 2010: Semi finalist, women's coxed four (cox).

Euan's brother, Fraser Malone, who left Hutchesons' after S5 in June 2010, is current Scottish Champion in Men's Junior Under 18 Eights and was fifth in the final of Men's Junior Coxless Fours in the British Rowing Championships held in July.
