Hutchesons' Pupils visit China
It was no April Fool for 35 pupils as they flew to Beijing on 1 April for a cultural week in China. Accompanied by five members of staff, the pupils divided their time between Beijing and Xi'an.

A Runaway Success - Again!
Hutchesons' dominated the AVIVA Secondary Schools' Cross-Country Championships at Beach Park, Irvine, on 13 March, cementing the School's reputation for excellence in long-distance running. Primary 7 Girls also took Gold in the Primary Championships.

In March 2010, Primary 7 pupils presented the much-loved musical, Oklahoma!, written by Rodgers and Hammerstein and first performed in 1943.

Hutchesons' 1st XI Hockey team win Scottish Schools Cup
Congratulations to the girls of the Hutchesons' 1st XI Hockey squad, who won the Scottish School Girls Cup at Peffermill, Edinburgh, in March, beating George Watson's College 2-0 in the final.

Pupils Race to Victory in National Final
Three pupils at Hutchesons' raced to victory in the national finals of the British Schools' Karting Championship in March.

Meeting the Mathematical Challenge
Four pupils from Hutchesons' won the regional final of the Team Maths Challenge run by the UK Mathematical Trust in March. They go on to compete for the UKMT Team Maths Challenge trophy at the Royal Horticultural Halls,London, on 21 June this year.

Founders' Day
On Wednesday 17 March 2010, Hutchesons' Grammar School gathered in Glasgow Cathedral to commemorate the founding of the School by the brothers George and Thomas Hutcheson in 1641.

Hutchesons' pupils represent Botswana in Bath
Five pupils in S5 attended the annual Model United Nations (MUN) Conference in Bath – the largest such conference in the UK. The conference was held over the weekend of 5th-7th March 2010 and involved a total of 700 delegates from schools worldwide.

Big Bang 2010 National Science and Engineering Competition
Hutchesons' has a long tradition of success in the national CREST (Creativity in Science and Technology) competition and 2010 is no different. Six pupils all won prestigious prizes at the Manchester event.

S3 Pupils in the Spotlight at Hutchesons'
Hutchesons' stage stars of the future were on show in the S3 Drama competition held in the Fotheringay Auditorium on 4 March in a display of theatrical prowess that extended from Shakespeare to Monty Python.

A-Head of Fashion
Primary pupils modelled their home-fashioned hats on 5 March for an EcoSchool show. Pupils designed their hats using recycled materials.

Sensational Swimmers
Primary pupils from Hutchesons' brought home seven Gold, two Silver and five Bronze medals from the Glasgow Schools Primary Swimming Finals at Whitehill Pool on 1 March. The Primary 7 Girls won every race available to them, including the Relay!

Pianists and Flautists take Prizes in Biggars Music Competition
It's clearly a difficult task having to choose between a pianist playing Shostakovich and a saxophonist playing the blues. That was the unenviable task of Michael Bawtree, adjudicator in the Biggars Music Competition.
