School Trips
Each year pupils at Hutchesons' have the chance to take part in trips of all types, ranging from day excursions to month-long expeditions and exchanges. The programme of trips help to create a school where pupils have a sense of adventure and curiosity, a global outlook and a broad perspective.
Among the highlghts of the 2007-2008 session were:
- 1st XV Rugby team fundraised for a tour to Cape Town, where the boys donated sports gear to teenagers in a township.
- Intrepid S5 pupils self-funded a World Challenge expedition to Zambia and Malawi.
- S3 pupils enjoyed a Geography field week in Iceland and a History trip to World War One battlefields.
- The Drama, Economics and Chemistry departments all organised study weekends in London.
- The Classics department took S4 pupils to Rome.
- S4, S5 and S6 pupils went skiing in Colorado.
- Four S4 pupils took part in a five-week exchange with Goulburn Valley Grammar School in Australia.
