The Hutchie Herald is published once a term and is mailed to current and former pupils, and friends and supporters of Hutchesons'.
The Hutchesonian is researched, written and edited by a group of S6 pupils throughout their final year at Hutchesons'. The process begins in early September and final touches and proof-reading extend into early June - just weeks before the magazine is published. This year's team has introduced significant improvements - the magazine is now 'perfect bound', full colour has been utilised in the design throughout and paper from controlled sources and well managed forests has been used.
The Journal is an academic journal based along the lines of those published by academic institutions around the world. Edited by Duncan Gillies, Head of Classics, The Journal is an opportunity for Hutchesons' to publish original work by pupils and staff. The first edition, published in 2007, included an essay on classical epic poetry by Hannah Culik [S6] and 'Some Proofs of Algebraic Inequalities' by Robert Robinson [S5], as well as an illustrated article on water jet propulsion by Douglas Herbert [S5] and David Boyle's [S6] development of a new language - Kalonese - for his fictional writing.
