George (left) & ThomasOriginally overlooking the courtyard in the Trongate, the statues of the Hutchesons were moved to positions on the front of the new building in Ingram Street.Perhaps the more prominent position of the statues on the Ingram St. Hospital reflected the slackening of the Reformed Kirk's zealotry against anything suggestive of idolatry. The statues' existence in the 1630s Tron Hospital perhaps suggests the Hutchesons' power and influence.The Bust of the elder Hutcheson, George.The Busts of the Hutchesons were forged for the opening of Kingarth Street, and stayed on the stage  there for many  decades until moving to the new Library in Beaton Road.Thomas's Monument, in Glasgow Cathedral, erected by his widow many years after his death, probably to emulate the new memorials appearing in the Necropolis adjacent.George's Kist, or Chest, which contained all his financial papers,and so the financial dealings of Glasgow's most prominent citizens.
