Pupils attended the Allan Glen Tribute Lecture at Strathclyde University last week to hear how engineering could provide the solution to air pollution problems. Here, pupils Finlay Drummond, Wan-Hew Tran and Katie Zhang write about the lecture.
The Allan Glen Tribute Lecture was very interesting and educational. This year’s speaker, Dr Kenneth Anderson, talked about the growing problems of air pollution and potential engineering solutions to this problem.
He described both past and present air pollution problems with a particular focus on Scottish air pollution today. He also informed us of the detrimental effects air pollution can have on our health and on the environment and discussed recent engineering developments made to solve this problem.
The lecture helped to open our eyes to the potential applications of engineering and the wide range of fields it covers. We would encourage anyone interested in science and engineering to go to this event next year.
