Primary pupils were delighted to welcome David Goutcher, the author of the Spy Quest books, to Kingarth Street to talk about his life and work.
He spoke to the P6 and P7 pupils about his previous career as an undercover police officer and about the importance of working hard to achieve your goals, before going on to discuss his new job as a children's author and game developer.
His latest spy adventure book, The Cursed Diamond, features cutting-edge augmented reality - the reader can scan the page using the related app and see parts of the story come to life in video clips.
Following the talk, the pupils seemed extremely impressed and inspired to read further. On the day, they said: “It was amazing how he put augmented reality into his book to really bring it to life.”
“It was inspiring to listen to him talk about his work and he had an intriguing life story.”
“I thought it was brilliant to find out about his life before becoming an author. I really enjoyed the visit because he told us some details about his undercover work!”
