Author visit

S1 pupils enjoyed learning all about life as a writer from award-winning Glasgow author Ross MacKenzie in the Fotheringay Centre this week.

During the informative talk, everyone learned about the tricks of writing a good story and discussed the benefits of reading, whilst hearing about the secrets behind the books Ross has written.

The dad-of-two who now lives in Renfrew won 'Best Story' in the 2016 Blue Peter Book Awards for his book 'The Nowhere Emporium' and the 'Best Book (8-11)' at the 2016 Scottish Children's Book Awards.

Everyone gave Ross a big cheer to thank him for coming along for the very interesting morning.

S1, Aubrey McCance said: "I really enjoyed today, hearing all about Ross putting pen to paper to achieve his dreams was inspiring."

S1, Sophie Antliff added: "I recently completed 'The Nowhere Emporium' and was so excited to meet Ross, it has been amazing to hear all about his adventures as a writer."
