Bushcraft in the forest

P3 pupils have been learning about Tropical Rainforests this term and had the opportunity to learn all about bushcraft skills in Pollok Park.

Joined by Dr Durbin of Wildwood Bushcraft, the group had a lesson on the four pillars of survival (fire, shelter, water and food) and they learnt about some of the edible and poisonous plants that grow in Pollok Park.

Dr Durbin gave an impressive demonstration of how to light a fire using a friction bow and the pupils all had a turn at lighting a ball of cotton wool using a flint and steel.

They finished the workshop by working in teams to create a den and a lot of fun was had by all!
