Public Transport

Hutchesons’ is conveniently situated for public transport, with bus and train services running through the district. Queens Park and Pollokshields West and East stations are just a few minutes’ walk from the Primary School.
Public bus routes and the Subway station at Shields Road are in easy commuting distance from the Secondary.
The short travel time from Glasgow Central Station makes both campuses very accessible across the region.

Adverse Weather

In the event of adverse weather conditions please see for details of our procedures.

Driving, Cycling and Walking to School

Wherever possible, we encourage older children to walk or cycle to school.
Primary pupils can be dropped off at the main entrance on Kingarth St and the Calder St playground entrance, where safe crossing points are provided. As roads become busy during peak times parents may wish to consider parking a short distance away and walking to the School. If you are driving to the Secondary please drop children outside the Beaton Rd or Boleyn Rd entrances rather than in School grounds. Alternatively, consider using Fotheringay Rd as it is less congested.

Considerate Communities

To strengthen community relationships we ask all our visitors to show consideration for our neighbours when dropping off and picking up their children. Parents are also discouraged from parking in local business car parks. Double-parking is also prohibited for safety reasons.
Please be aware that it is illegal to stop or park on Keep Clear ‘zig-zag’ lines outside Glasgow schools.

School Buses

A number of School run buses and private coach services provide transport to the Primary and Secondary Schools. The bus services brochure 2018/19 can be found here.
