Culzean field trip

S3 biology pupils had field trips to Culzean Castle and Country Park last Thursday and Friday to learn about ecosystems.

The trip, which supports the National 5 course, gave pupils the opportunity to develop their sampling techniques and learn more about pond and woodland ecosystems.

Pupils looked at pollution indicators and experienced sampling from a pond, where the most exciting discovery was finding a rare and protected Great Crested Newt!

Despite the differing weather conditions both days went well and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed their experience.
