Senior pupils and staff enjoyed a royal celebration at the DofE Gold Award Ceremony on July 5th at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh is normally present and visits each group of Gold Award recipients, however this year the task was passed on to HRH The Earl of Wessex.
HRH gave the Gold Award certificates to the presenter, Aileen Ponton, who delivered an inspirational talk on the theme of education. She herself had worked with the Scottish Qualifications Authority for 16 years.
In 2007 Aileen moved to become Chief Executive of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Partnership. The talk was followed by each recipient receiving their certificate from her.
There was an opportunity to walk around the grounds and the guards explained the Palace is used regularly as the Official Royal Residence for the Monarch when she is in Scotland and has held the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Presentation since 1958.
Very well done to all of our DofE Award recipients!
