Exam success

It’s been another excellent year for results with 519 grade A passes being awarded to S5 pupils – with two pupils each achieving SEVEN Grade As.

We are delighted to report that due to continued hard work from staff and pupils, the pupils have sustained the record breaking performance from last year.

A massive 68% of all S5 Highers were again awarded Grade A.

There are many personal triumphs hidden within the results statistics. In addition to the two pupils who were awarded seven As, 28 pupils gained six Grade A Highers and another 35 gained five straight As. There was an average of 5.1 Highers per candidate.

The school is also happily aware of those examination performances that were a personal triumph whilst not making it into these headlines.

The vast majority of Sixth Year pupils have made it to their first choice University with 82% of Advanced Highers being awarded top grades of A or B. The Fourth Year pupils have realised their potential with over three quarters of National 5 examinations being awarded Grade A.

The Rector, Mr Gambles, said: “The message is clear: with hard work comes success. What never fails to amaze me is that pupils at Hutchie are able to maintain such excellence in their studies alongside total commitment to the many extra-curricular opportunities that together make them who they are.”
