Former pupil and opera singer Anna Heywood is performing in Glasgow next month and has invited S5’s Max Rodney to share her stage.
Anna (C2015) is currently studying History and Italian at Glasgow University but she is also enjoying a successful singing career.
Her vocal talents have already been spotted by industry professionals and she has won scholarships to attend The Glyndebourne Academy near London and to an Italian Opera school in Bari.
She said: “In my final year at school I won the Glyndebourne scholarship and my tutor there invited me to attend the school in Bari last July. I will complete my degree but then I hope to do a Masters in music and perform.
The talented Opera singer is inviting the Hutchie community to come along to her ‘Evening of Music with Anna Heywood and Guests’ on May 20th at Renfield St Stephens, Bath Street, Glasgow.
One of her special guests is S5’s Max Rodney who has won a place on the summer school at the world-leading Juilliard School of Music in New York.
Max, also recently won the School’s music competition with a performance on the Marimba, which was judged by acclaimed composer Sir James Macmillan. He said Max’s performance ‘showed marvellous dexterity and rhythmic control’.
