FP Hockey Stars

Congratulations to FPs Robyn Collins and Lucy Lanigan (C.2011) who will represent Team Scotland at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Lucy plays for Clydesdale Western Hockey Club and Robyn, who plays for Surbiton Hockey Club and Scotland Senior Women, will join the rest of Team Scotland this month to compete at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre in Australia.

The pair found out in February they had been successful following a warm weather selection camp in Gran Canaria at the beginning of this year.

As the duo prepare to jet off to Australia, Lucy said: “We are completely overwhelmed and are now ready to play the best hockey we have ever played.”

Lucy, a PE teacher, joined Hutchesons' in S1 and explained her passion for hockey grew during her time at School. She said: “I started playing hockey when I was in P5 at a local club and when I joined Hutchie, my passion and commitment to hockey grew massively.

“My PE teacher and coach was Rhona Simpson, an ex double Olympic hockey player, Scotland internationalist and top goal scorer. She led very memorable hockey and pitch sessions that many FPs will never forget!

"My hockey experience at Hutchie has a crucial part of where I am now and it's a credit to Rhona and her influence."

The School community wish both Robyn and Lucy the best of luck and congratulate them on this fantastic achievement!
