Former pupil Alison Di Rollo neé Lafferty has been appointed to the post of Solicitor General in recognition of her work heading the National Sexual Crimes Unit.
Alison, C1979, was put forward for the post by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her appointment was confirmed by MSPs earlier this month.
Ms Sturgeon said: “Alison has led the ground-breaking work of the National Sexual Crimes Unit first as its deputy and then as its head for over three years.
“Her outstanding career and contribution to a new more effective approach to sexual crimes gives me every confidence in recommending her for this new role.”
Alison was the Head Girl in 1978/9 and the Dux of English and Modern Languages. She was also the vice-captain of the hockey team.
She studied at Glasgow University where she won the Alexander Stone Scholarship for best student going forward to Law.
