S6 pupil Kate Lochrie travelled to Weimar during the summer holidays after being selected for top UK-German exchange programme.
Kate, who is planning to study languages when she completes 6th year, was one of a handful of UK applicants to be chosen for the competitive education programme run by UK-German Connection in Weimar.
Living with a host family, Kate went on various tours including the Buchenwald concentration camp and the Bergwerk Merkers mine alongside school pupils from across the UK.
On her experience, Kate said: "My trip was a truly unforgettable experience, it was so interesting to learn more about a new part of Germany and although I had been many times, this was the furthest North I had ever been.
"I made lots of friends and it was fascinating to learn about the way German is taught in other schools. This summer has definitely confirmed my passion for travel and languages."
