Hutchesons’ launched its Annual Fund in 2002 and is an annual request to the whole Hutchesons’ community to invest in the school and support a number of important projects which would not be possible without their generous support.

Dependent on your Support for Growth

Unlike many other schools Hutchesons’ does not have an annual development levy in addition to fees and the school relies wholly on the voluntary support of current parents, former pupils and friends of Hutchesons’.

In 2018 their support was celebrated at the official opening of the school’s new Fitness and Cardio suite as their donations allowed us to offer our pupils the use of state-of-the-art gym equipment in a purpose built extension as part of our ‘Fitness for All’ strategy.

Bursaries

Many of our donors choose to support our Bursary Fund which allows Hutchesons’ to reach out to a greater number of bright youngsters in Glasgow and the West of Scotland and enable them to receive a Hutchesons’ education.

In 2018 we launched the Sandy Strang Bursary Project and we hope to raise in excess of £400,000 which is the amount needed to provide a bursary in perpetuity. We have already received a donation of £100,000 in former Depute Rector Sandy’s memory and in March 2019 we held the Hutchie Ball which raised £40,000 for the fund.

The 1641 Society

Hutchesons’ Grammar School has produced a wealth of distinguished men and women who have made a considerable contribution to our society in many different walks of life. One way of helping us ensure that we can continue the legacy left by the Hutcheson brothers is to leave a legacy of your own.

By including a bequest to Hutchesons’ in your will, you will be helping to safeguard the long-term future of Hutchesons’ Grammar School. Whether you wish to endow a Bursary, provide funds for capital or revenue projects, bestow an asset, or gift your stocks and shares, your bequest will be honoured and you will create a lasting legacy which will benefit future generations of Hutchesonians.

Everyone who leaves a bequest to the School is invited to become a member of the 1641 Society, an informal group of like-minded individuals who meet once a year at a 1641 Society event.

If you would like to join the Society or would like further information on how to make a bequest, please contact the Development Office on 0141 433 4474 or email development@hutchesons.org.
