Matron's skydive

The School’s matron Mrs Reid raised £700 for Breast Cancer Now by jumping out of a plane over St Andrews at the weekend.

Mrs Reid completed the tandem jump on Saturday as part of the charity’s UK wide campaign ‘The Big Pink Jump’.

She described the experience as “amazing and terrifying at the same time”. Mrs Reid was lucky she was able to jump as bad weather prevented later jumps going ahead.

She said: “I loved jumping out of the plane, and the free fall was such a surreal feeling -  once the parachute opened we came down through the clouds which was a really cool experience.

“I was quite overwhelmed by the beauty and peace that I experienced at that level (about 5,000 ft by this time). We did a few turns and twists in the air with me controlling the parachute, and eventually had to land.”
