Model UN 2016 trip

A group of 5th and 6th year pupils travelled to Manchester last weekend to attend the Model United Nations conference at Cheadle Hulme School.

The Hutchie delegation represented Australia; debating issues of human rights, health and disarmament over the course of the weekend from an Australian perspective.

On Saturday, following an enlightening key note speech, pupils were split off into their respective committees for the day to resolve three issues focused in a specific political area. After a wild-west themed social in the evening, Sunday morning was spent tackling a mock UN ‘crisis’ that was introduced the day before.

Everyone performed very well over the weekend and particular congratulations should be given to Adam Watt (S5) who won the best delegate award in his committee and Gareth Williams (S6) who helped out as a ‘Guest Chair’ for the weekend.

We were also extremely proud to pick up a number of Best Dressed and Best Accent accolades as the only Scottish school in attendance.

Overall, an extremely enjoyable time was had by all.
