The Rector is delighted to announce a new primary headteacher has been appointed and will join Kingarth Street in August.
Mr Gambles said: "On behalf of the Governors and following a rigorous interview process, I am delighted to annouce we have found a worthy successor to the charismatic Miss Macphail as the Head of Primary at Hutchesons’ Grammar School.
"Mr Ashley Cornfoot is looking forward to returning to Scotland with his wife and three children. He has been a teacher and school leader for over twenty years and has been fortunate to have worked in a wide range of prestigious schools. After graduating from Lancaster University with a BA(Hons) in English, he taught for four years in the UK before moving overseas.
"He started his international school career in Qatar before working in two IB World Schools, Bangkok Patana School in Thailand and The British School of Brussels. For the past nine years, he has been a senior leader at Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, as both Deputy Head and Acting Head of the Primary School. During this time he has helped the school achieve Apple Distinguished School status for the integration of technology and the 21st Century Award for Innovative Learning. He has a particular interest in values-led curriculum design.
Mr Cornfoot said: “I am passionate about providing the best care, education and opportunities for children so they can grow as learners and develop socially and emotionally. Everywhere I have worked, I have been actively involved in the wider life of school: coaching sports, directing theatre productions, leading community service events and residential camps. Away from work, I love travelling, enjoying the outdoors, and playing and watching sports. I am truly delighted to be joining Hutchesons’ next academic year and meeting you all in person.”
Mr Gambles added: "We look forward to welcoming Mr Cornfoot to the next exciting chapter in the story of Hutchesons’ Grammar School."
