Open Morning 2014

Kingarth St Open Morning 2014Both campuses were buzzing with activity recently as pupils and staff prepared for the annual Open Mornings.

The Primary gave an exceptionally warm welcome to visitors to Kingarth Street on Wednesday the 29th of October, as new parents went on tour with P7 pupils to discover a personal view of the School.
As well as open access to our classrooms, several spotlight areas were set up to explain our focus on early literacy, numeracy and language and to highlight the Kingarth St Open Morning 2014exceptional level of attainment reached by even our youngest pupils.
Visitors were given a comprehensive view of Hutchesons' learning strategies and the resulting high standard of work and there was also plenty of time for lively discussion with key members of staff. Once again our pupils were the real stars of the show and thanks must go to our guides who were a great credit to the School.
There was plenty of creativity on display too, with artwork and skilful performances created by our pupils filling the halls with music and colour.
The Secondary event was held on Saturday the 1st of November and we were delighted to welcome well over 300 visitors to the main campus at Beaton Rd.
Beaton Rd Open Morning 2014Senior pupils took new families on a guided tour of the school and, in the process, personally provided a perfect example of the best of Hutchesons'.
The visitors enjoyed a peek behind the scenes at the 'big' school with plenty of hands on experience in the Science Block, with booms, bangs and fizzes. There was also a Clubs and Societies fair, a chance to chat with departmental teachers and senior staff, a stunning Secondary Art display, live music, drama shows, sport on our pitches, computer programming demonstrations and much, much more.
Beaton Rd Open Morning 2014Our oldest pupils played a huge role at both events, with S6 on hand with a welcome at the gates, happy to share their Hutchesons' experience, academic achievements, future destinations and aspirations.
Our sincere thanks must go to all our pupils and staff for giving up their time to help new parents discover the real Hutchesons', from those right at the heart of the School.
