The School is delighted to announce the pupils, staff and the Hutchie community will be fundraising for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice this year.
The hospice was nominated at the 2016-7 Headline Charity after receiving a number of nominations from primary and secondary pupils as well as staff. They were keen to support this important local, charity.
Caroline Watson, from the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice spoke to pupils at assembly this morning and told them more about the charity’s work.
The hospice provides invaluable care for those with life-limiting illnesses as well as providing essential support for families in Glasgow.
As a school community we will raise funds for the Brick by Brick Appeal; the new, purpose built facility in Bellahouston park. In addition to the 50:10 campaign we will consult pupils to choose where additional funds are directed. We have been given a ‘wish list’ so that we can choose exactly where funds raised will be directed. There are many choices, from sensory gardens to complementary therapies; patient terraces to homely reception areas.
This is a really worthwhile project as the new service will allow individuals aged 15 and over to access their support services. At Hutchie we encourage an ethos where charity is not only providing financial support but also personal commitment. Pupils will have many opportunities to volunteer with the Hospice throughout the session.
