The School is delighted to announce the pupils, staff and the Hutchie community will be fundraising for Calums Cabin this year.
The charity was nominated as the 2017-8 Headline Charity after receiving hundreds of votes from primary and secondary pupils as well as staff.
Calums Cabin provide holiday homes in Scotland for children suffering from cancer and cancer-related diseases, allowing families to spend quality time together, make memories and recharge their batteries during a difficult time.
In February 2017, the charity opened their first mainland property in Glasgow, with a flat providing a home from home break for children. Calums Cabin opened their first property in 2009 on the Isle of Bute, with a cottage opened in Eastlands Park in 2012. They additionally rent properties from Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute.
As a School community, we will raise funds for the charity, which hopes to continue supporting families across Scotland.
At Hutchie we encourage an ethos where charity is not only providing financial support but also personal commitment. Pupils will have many opportunities to volunteer with the charity throughout the session.
Charity Founder and mother of Calum, Caroline Speirs said: “We are honoured to have been chosen as the Hutchesons’ Charity of the Year, the support means so much to us and to all of our visiting families – thank you Hutchie!”
