Scots Verse and Music Competition

The Scots Verse and Music Competition saw Kingarth Street pupils pay tribute to traditional Scottish song, poetry and music at the annual competition.

The event saw dozens of pupils from P3 - P7 take part, with School Governor, Mr Chapman and BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2015, Scottish folk singer and songwriter, Claire Hastings, judging the 2018 competition. 

Staff and pupils enjoyed the fantastic afternoon packed with impressive performances. Awards were presented to pupils at the end.

Ms Hastings presented the Music Cup to Daniel Ogilvie (P7), Mr Chapman presented the Verse Cup to Jack Wallace (P7) and the Sheena Hamilton Award for Excellence in Scots Music and Verse was given to Jacob Brown (P7). 

The pupils celebrated the end of the day by singing Auld Lang Syne and Speed Bonnie Boat. The staff and pupils thanked the judges for coming along on the day.
