Exam Results 2019
It has been another successful year for Hutchesons’ Grammar School pupils with an impressive set of exam results at both Higher and Nat 5 level.
For the fourth year running, over two-thirds of all Highers awarded to our Fifth Year were grade A. One-fifth of the cohort, 26 pupils, were awarded 6 grade As and almost half of our Fifth Year pupils, 63, gained five or more grade As. With 148 pupils, this is an amazing set of results.
We are delighted that our continued emphasis on extra-curricular activities and developing the whole person has been matched by another extremely strong academic performance from our pupils.
Rector Colin Gambles stated: “We are hugely proud of the achievements of all our pupils. Hidden within these headlines are a great many personal success stories. The hard-won pass is often every bit as pleasing as a grade A, for both teacher and pupil, and we look forward to seeing our pupils in person to share their pleasure.”
He added: “The fourth year of such consistently high examination results is the result of the highest level of relationship between pupil and teacher. Our independent survey of parents agrees that this relationship is excellent, with the school significantly exceeding benchmarks both inside the classroom and outside. Motivated, committed, accessible and excellent staff from Nursery all the way through to Sixth Year are central to all of our successes.”
The leaving Sixth Year pupils have done themselves proud: their hard work and focus have seen the vast majority getting their first choice university place to study a whole range of courses such as Communication Design, Informatics, Naval Architecture and Musical Theatre. A large number of our pupils will also be embarking on courses in the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Economics and Law. They will be heading off to institutions spanning the whole of the UK with over 40% attending universities within the Russell Group.
Our National 5 results are very much in line with past years and show that the trends above will be continuing.
