Pi Day 2019

Pupils performed very well at the recent Pi Day event organised by the Mathematics Department.

Very well done to the four winning pupils :  Sara (S3) from Stuart House,  Abi (S1) from Montrose House, Sam (S3) from Lochiel House and Jwala (S1) from Argyll House.

The standard displayed at the inter-house event was extremely high and the overall winner was Sara who was able to recite the first 100 digits of Pi. Sara was closely followed by Abi who was able to remember the first 99 digits – a remarkable feat of memory by both pupils.

There were around 30-35 pupils at the event between spectators and contestants and, to add to the general fun and sense of occasion,  some “Pi themed cake”  was enjoyed by all.

Thank you to everyone who took part and special thanks to Mr Hill of the Mathematics Department who organised the event.
