S6 Leavers’ Ceremony 2022

It was a special day for our S6 pupils as they celebrated the end of their journey at Hutchesons’ Grammar School with the Leavers’ Ceremony held just before the end of term.

They were joined by family, friends and members of staff for the event held at Beaton Road, marking the longstanding association between the pupils and parents of the school.

Rector, Mr Gambles and Depute Rector, Mr Martin thanked the pupils for their hard work and commitment over the years, highlighting the important role that family have played in providing the Class of 2022 with a Hutchie education.

Mr Gambles then addressed each of the pupils individually, praising them for their significant contribution to the local community and the school.

He said: “As a Sixth Year, you have been my first coh

ort from S1 onwards and I have been Rector for your whole time in Senior School, it has been a privilege.

“You have been particularly impacted by Covid and have really impressed us with your resilience and determination to just ‘get on with it’.

“All of you have responded by studying hard during lockdown learning, by living with the sometimes irksome restrictions, and then by taking opportunities as they started to present themselves once more.”

The Year Tutor Team then announced each individual pupil and everyone applauded as they received a congratulatory handshake and a copy of the Hutchesonian from the Rector.

The ceremony concluded with everyone coming together for refreshments and having the opportunity to take photographs in the Secret Garden to bid farewell.

We wish all of our 2022 School Leavers’ the very best of luck as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
