With extensive on-site facilities, neighbouring Norwood playing fields and direct access to Pollok Country Park from our Hutchesons’ at Pollok Park (H@PP) site, pupils enjoy regular opportunities to learn, explore and grow in natural environments.
Our grounds include rugby and hockey pitches, a large sports hall, dance studio, climbing wall and dedicated outdoor learning spaces, providing an inspiring setting for physical activity, environmental education and adventurous learning.
For our youngest learners, outdoor play is a vital part of every day. Pre-School children benefit from dedicated outdoor spaces and regular woodland sessions, where nature becomes the classroom.
Through activities such as den building, tree climbing and exploring woodland habitats, children develop confidence, independence and resilience while fostering curiosity, creativity and a lifelong appreciation of the natural world.
As pupils progress through the School, outdoor learning becomes increasingly varied and challenging. Whether investigating habitats, studying geography and science, or taking part in outdoor and adventurous activities, pupils develop critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
Regular access to Pollok Country Park and our own campus encourages pupils to ask questions, make discoveries, and understand their environment. Outdoor learning nurtures compassion, creativity and a strong connection with the world around them.
Learning outdoors also supports every aspect of a child’s development. Time spent in nature promotes physical health, emotional wellbeing and social development, helping pupils build resilience, improve focus, manage emotions and develop positive relationships with others. Combined with outstanding classroom teaching and a rich programme of co-curricular opportunities, our commitment to outdoor learning ensures every pupil benefits from a balanced, engaging and holistic education-one that enables them to belong, flourish and achieve.
