For nearly 400 years, Hutchesons’ Grammar School has been part of the fabric of Glasgow and at the forefront of teaching and learning in Scotland. While much has changed since our foundation, our purpose remains consistent: to provide an education that enables young people to learn, lead and live with integrity.

It is a privilege to serve as Rector of Hutchesons’ Grammar School, and to welcome you to our school.

Choosing a school is a significant decision. Academic success matters, but so too does finding a community where young people are known, encouraged and challenged. At Hutchesons’, we help pupils discover who they are, find their voice and develop the confidence to achieve their full potential. As a result, we consistently achieve some of the best examination results in the country each year.

Our pupils are supported to achieve at their own pace, with opportunities to grow academically, creatively, socially and personally. Through the dedication of our teachers and pastoral teams, we aim to foster a genuine love of learning, a strong work ethic and the resilience needed to navigate an ever-changing world. The success of our young people is built on a culture of ambition, care and shared responsibility.

As we look to the future, our Strategic Intentions and School Improvement Plan provide a clear framework for the continued development of our school. These priorities reflect our commitment to ensure that every pupil can flourish, that teaching and learning continue to evolve, and that our school remains responsive to the needs of future generations. They build on the strengths of our history while recognising that every successful school must continue to learn and improve.

Our school community is central to everything we do. Pupils, families, former pupils and friends of the School all contribute to the character and spirit of Hutchesons’. While school years may pass quickly, the connections formed here last a lifetime.
