Medical Visit

Find out more

Senior pupils were delighted to welcome former pupil, Professor Iain McInnes CBE (C1982) recently.

Professor McInnes is Professor of Experimental Medicine and Director of Research Institute (Immunology) at Glasgow University, a word renowned institute looking at arthritis and other auto-immune conditions.

Over lunch, he outlined his research interests and discussed recent developments in the teaching of science and medicine with Mr Gambles, Mr Kerr, Mr Uprichard, Mr David Campbell and Louise Duncan from the Development Office.

He also met senior pupils who are considering medicine and offered them some valuable advice. He told them to build resilience and to show perseverance.

He emphasized the importance of trust and explained that he deals with “people, not patients”.

We very much look forward to further opportunities of sharing ideas with Iain as part of our Hutchie Hub network.
