?On Wednesday 4th March the Hutchesons’ RMPS Department hosted a Medical Ethics Seminar.
The event was attended by S5 and S6 pupils from Hutchesons’ Grammar and Edinburgh Academy.
We were delighted to welcome two very engaging and informative speakers: Dr Radha Sundaram, consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Alexandria Hospital and Clinical Lead for NHS Blood and Tissue talking on organ donation and posing challenging ethical dilemmas for the pupils to consider and Professor Roger Downie, Biological Sciences University of Glasgow discussing the ethics of embryology and uses of human embryos in science.
The pupils enjoyed their taste of a university style seminar, debating the ethical issues presented and posing their own.
