The safety and wellbeing of all children and young people is our highest priority.

As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, we have a duty to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism or supporting terrorism. This is known as the Prevent Duty.

Our school promotes inclusion, respect, equality and positive relationships. Through our curriculum and wider school ethos, we support young people to develop critical thinking skills, understand different viewpoints, challenge prejudice and hate, and become responsible citizens.

Staff receive safeguarding training and are alert to concerns that a child or young person may be vulnerable to radicalisation or extremist influences. Any concerns are managed in the same way as other safeguarding concerns and may involve working with appropriate partner agencies where required.

We recognise that vulnerability to radicalisation is a safeguarding issue. Concerns will be addressed proportionately, sensitively and in partnership with families and relevant agencies, in line with GIRFEC principles and child protection procedures.
