Almost 400 years of experience has taught us that a school works best when it creates a strong partnership with pupils, parents and the local community.

Promoting a Caring Attitude & Respect for All

The whole school supports environmental and charitable causes and promotes a caring ethos.

Proud of the diversity of faith and ethnic groups represented within it, the school actively supports its pupils in becoming Global citizens. Pupils and staff are encouraged to take a wider world view, and this is complemented by many strong international partnerships.

Supporting Local & Global Charity

From P1 to S6 all pupils are involved annually in fundraising for the school’s nominated charity, chosen by the Charities Committee.

Pupils and staff organise a wide range of events throughout the year, and typically raise well over £20,000.

Nurturing Independent Thought

These positive influences enable children to grow into independent thinkers and at Hutchesons’ their beliefs and passions are reflected in a range of pupil action groups.

Opportunities for pupils to make a difference start early with the fun and friendly Primary Eco Group, the School Council or the Fairtrade Committee and extend to memberships of the Secondary Amnesty International, Model UN and J8 societies, in which committed and informed young adults engage in political lobbying for increased human rights and international education.

Across all year groups co-operation and friendships are encouraged by House membership, and this spirit of co-operation is continued externally through community partnerships and local initiatives.
