At Hutchesons’ we are very proud of the assistance we offer each individual pupil in making the important decisions linked to career development and further education.

The provision of first-class information lies at the heart of our process and this, allied with the development of self-awareness, allows each pupil to make personal decisions based on their own talents, skills, knowledge and experience. We encourage our pupils to be confident in making their choices by providing a steady and consistent approach to careers, from S1 through to S6. First class careers information complements the development of individual talents and skills in identifying positive future goals.

Inspiring Futures

The Depute Rector with responsibility for careers education works closely with the Head of CD&HE and members of the department to ensure that their expert knowledge is effectively assimilated into both the academic and pastoral care systems within the school.

This is further strengthened by our membership of the Mycareersprofile organisation.

Subject Choice Parents’ Evenings

In S2, S4 and S5 Subject Choice Parents’ Evenings take place between February and March. These bring together Academic, Pastoral and Careers staff to ensure parents feel comfortable with helping their son or daughter make their decisions.

Sitting alongside the guidance provided by our staff it is our aim to bring both parents and FPs of Hutchesons’ together with current pupils to widen knowledge about available career paths.
