The image below is of the Auldhouse Pavilion, which was completed in March 1968, and included 6 dressing rooms, showers, baths, a kitchen, and a committee room. The official opening of the new pavilion however, took place on the 7th September 1968, and included many former staff and pupils, and committee members.
Only a few years before, renovations involved the loss of the tea-room from the old pavilion, and so a carriage was acquired from British Railways – similar to our subway carriage in H@PP. Electric light was installed; the carriage was painted blue and for 5 years lemonade flowed.
Do you have an image of the old blue railway carriage? If so, please get in touch with our Archivist.
Committed to the collection, preservation and maintenance of the records of the school, its activities and pupils, the School strives to record the school’s history and memory and hold a range of archive material from class registers and magazines to photographs, trophies and uniforms. Pupils are encouraged at both Primary and Secondary School to engage with archive material, with the aim to provide a dynamic educational resource for the school and wider community.
Would you like to know more about the School’s history? Contact our School Archivist, Ms Devenney at archives@hutchesons.org with any enquiries.
