Back in November 2024, our S3 pupils took part in the Lest We Forget WWI project where postcards were sent to the last known addresses of former pupils who died in WWI. An initiative that sparked strong interest and received warm feedback from recipients.
In this archive photo of the month, the project gained new significance when, while browsing old school magazines, our archivist discovered that the school had carried out a similar gesture more than a century ago.
In Christmas 1918, postcards were sent to former pupils serving in the First World War a thoughtful act that, according to the archived notes, was greatly appreciated at the time. The rediscovery has inspired renewed enthusiasm for finding creative ways to connect with former pupils and the wider community.
Committed to the collection, preservation and maintenance of the records of the school, its activities and pupils, the School strives to record the school’s history and memory and hold a range of archive material from class registers and magazines to photographs, trophies and uniforms. Pupils are encouraged at both Primary and Secondary School to engage with archive material, with the aim to provide a dynamic educational resource for the school and wider community.
