Leaning on our Hutchie Alumni, two former pupils, Adam Bennet and Michael Flett, attended a Law breakfast to enable the S4, S5 and S6 pupils to discuss possible legal careers.
Adam, who joined remotely from Dubai, is legal counsel for Sonangol P&P Iraq and spoke about his role in the UAE, while Michael spoke about his Associate role in Corporate Finance for International Law firm, Addleshaw Goddard.
The pupils gained a valuable insight first-hand at the challenges and achievements that can be met following a path of Law.
Dr David Miller, another former pupil, along with his colleague Dr David Wright, met with S6 pupils to discuss the different learning styles when studying at University and how to apply these styles to garner their full potential.
The latter part of the week took a more practical approach, which saw S6 pupils take part in multi mini-interviews which was an interview preparation event run by our Careers Development and Higher Education Department. Set up into groups, pupils were given one-minute to read the scenario and then enter the interview room to discuss before moving on in a round robin style at the sound of a five-minute buzzer.
It has been an insightful and successful first ever Scottish Careers Week for both staff and pupils.
