We are delighted to announce that Hutchesons’ Grammar School has been shortlisted in two prestigious awards at the Scottish School Food Awards 2025 – a national celebration of excellence in education food service.
The awards recognise outstanding achievement across 11 categories, spanning nutrition, wellbeing, sustainability, innovation, and community engagement. The School has been nominated for both the Hospitality Education Award and the Sustainability Award, highlighting the exceptional work of our school Catering Team.
The Hospitality Education nomination is particularly significant, as we are the first independent school ever to be recognised in this category. The Catering Team plays a vital role in educating pupils about food through daily menus, seasonal campaigns, world cuisine themes, and hands-on opportunities such as leisure cookery and barista training – equipping pupils with valuable life skills for further education and beyond.
The Sustainability Award nomination reflects the launch of our Sustainability 2041 Strategy; a long-term commitment aligned with our 400th anniversary. Catering services support this vision through initiatives such as Wipe Out Waste, working alongside the Eco Committee, our Pupil Action Group, and STEM projects.
We wish our Catering Team, and all nominees, the very best of luck at the awards ceremony, taking place later this month at Glenalmond College.
