Star Writer

P6 pupil Alexa recently celebrated a fantastic achievement – getting her very first book ‘The Girl in the Volcano, and the Volcano in the Girl’ published.

Alexa came up with the idea for the book herself and wrote it with a little help from her grandmother. The 10-year-old has now published it online. The idea to write a short story was originally hatched during the Easter holidays after learning about natural disasters in class.

She worked with her grandmother to write down her feelings about growing up and learning about nature to piece together the original story, which has now gone live on Amazon Bookstore

Proud mum, Kirstin said:

We are so pleased with the progress Alexa has made since coming to Hutchesons’, and see this as a major achievement in her development!

Dozens of Primary pupils have already placed their orders and the publication has inspired Alexa to pursue her writing further.

Her book can be purchased here:

Very well done Alexa!
