Turning the Greek Tragedy ‘The Woman of Troy’ translated by Don Taylor, on its head, from a harrowing tragedy to a girl-power, contemporary reimagined adaptation of classic mythology.
The show centered round the sadness after Troy is defeated, with the Girl Band/Greek Chorus ‘The Trojan Women’, transforming the fate of the women left behind. Through the medium of Girl-Power, The Trojan Women inspired Queen Hecuba and her daughters, to embrace the power of women’s rights to take their city back.
It was a wonderfully funny script, written and adapted, and directed by our very own Teacher of Drama, Mrs Lizzie Ward, and showcased the incredible talent of our performers.
With two casts and four shows over three days, it delighted all who were fortunate to get tickets.
A huge Spartan roar of thanks to everyone that made the show what it was. From the stage crew building the set and working behind the scenes to sewing and designing costumes, from our stars on the stage to Tall Poppy Events‘ sound and lighting – it was a Herculean effort and wouldn’t have been the success without you. Special thanks to our enthusiastic audiences who came along to watch.
