British Obstacle Course Racing Championships

Former Pupil, Karen McQuarrie (C2009), took part in the British Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Championships last weekend.

Taking place in Ashdown Forest, Sussex, Karen came third in the women’s elite race. The course, set to the fabulous backdrop of Pippingford Park, covered 12K+ with over 25 obstacles to tackle.

Karen regularly competes in Tartan Warrior, Spartan, and other such events, and often finishes with a podium finish. She also recently represented the UK at the OCR World Championships in Belgium and earlier in the year, represented the UK at the OCR European Championships in Hungary, where she won a silver medal in the woman’s team event.

In addition to training for and competing in obstacle course races, Karen is also actively involved in committees within British Obstacle Sports (BOS), to help drive development of the sport and encourage increased participation of both competitive and fun runners in OCR. BOS is the national governing body for obstacle course and ninja sport in the United Kingdom.

Congratulations to Karen, an incredible effort and commitment around working as a Doctor for the NHS.
