Held at Hamilton Racecourse with nine schools and 300 runners taking part, it was a hilly course for the runners, but pupils gave it their all in the challenging event.
Under 12 Boys’ and Girls’ raced a distance of 2.4km, with Holly (P6) and Ben (P7) winning with a confident margin. In the team races, U12 Girls’ Holly, Orla (P7), Carrie (P6), Cara (P7), Nina (P7), Ashley (P6), and Louisa (P7), won the team event with 10 teams competing. In the U12 Boys’ team, made up of Ben, Andrew (P7), Jacob (P7), Finlay (P6), Hamish (P6), Oscar (P7), and Robbie (P7), placed 2nd.
The Under 14s raced over a distance of 3.3km, with Sam (S1) racing well to place 1st place for the U14 Boys’. Team races consisted of Cassie (S1), Jessica (S1), Iona (S1), Amelia (S1), and Eve (S1), for the Girls’ team with them placing 3rd and Joshua (S1), Kieran (S1), Alex (S1) and Hugo (S1) competed in the Boys’ team.
The Under 15s also raced over the 3.3km distance, with April (S3) racing fantastically to win with a clear distance between her and the 2nd placed runner. The Under 15s Girls’ team were joint first place with Strathallan. The team of April, Roan (S6), Alyssa (S3), Martha (S2), Erika (S2), and Orla (S3), raced with great focus as always.
The Under 15s Boys’ team made up of Callum (S2), Andrew (S2), Brodie (S2), Matthew (S3), Miller (S3), and Joseph (S3), raced well and competed in a strong field.
Congratulations to all pupils who took party part — a strong resilient effort with terrific results and Hutchie team spirit, thank you to Hamilton College for hosting another brilliant event.
Pupils next look forward to the Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships, with the Secondary Championships taking place in March, and Primary Championships taking place in April.
