The 110th Glasgow Music Festival recently took place and Kingarth Street pupils took home 1st Prize in their respective classes.
Zachary (P3), and Ayana (P7), recently competed at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, St Andrew’s West Church, with around 7,000 performers across the annual music festival for music, speech, drama and dance.
Both musicians chose their individual pieces and performed exceptionally well in their Grades, with Zachary, winning 1st Prize in Grade 3 Viola, and Ayana, winning 1st Prize in Grade 5 Violin.
Ayana has also been accepted as a first violinist into the Junior Orchestra of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland (NYOS), which provides younger students with the opportunity to perform large-scale symphonic repertoire at top class venues. She has also been accepted as a second violinist with the Projects Ensemble in the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.
A truly fantastic achievement by both pupils, congratulations and well done.
