On Tuesday and Thursday morning, a Books for Breakfast event took place for our P1 pupils, where parents and carers were invited to come along to the library to share picture books with their children and enjoy some warm pastries. With over 20 families joining us this week, it was an enjoyable way to start the day. Some of our P6 pupils popped in to join their P1 reading buddy as well.
At lunchtime on Wednesday, P4 – P7 pupils signed up and brought their packed lunch into the library to enjoy the Literature for Lunch event. This enabled them to have the time to sit and read to themselves while enjoying their lunch. The atmosphere was hushed, the concentration intense, and the behaviour exemplary.
A Staff Storytelling event took place at lunchtime on Thursday, where teachers and support staff enjoyed reading their favourite books to the children. With an array of stories told, it was lovely to see the children listen intently. Particularly popular were The Book with No Pictures and the ever-engaging Gruffalo.
Book Week Scotland was thoroughly enjoyed by all, thank you to everyone for making it a success and to our Primary School Librarian, Ms Peebles, for arranging these wonderful events.
