Our Hutchie delegates represented Egypt and Ireland on Committees ranging from Human Rights to Environment and Science. In advance of the weekend, Delegates conducted research on pressing issues, given to them by their Committee Chairs, and produced Resolutions to provide solutions from their country’s point of view.
On the Saturday, following the Opening Ceremony, Resolutions were chosen and debated in Committees. A social event followed on Saturday night to allow our pupils time to meet the other delegates out with debating. On the Sunday, an emergency meeting was held where pupils represented their countries in this heated debate. The crisis set out for our delegates was to navigate the random tectonic movement that was causing land masses to move towards each other, and thus creating a variety of issues.
Our pupils were delighted to receive five awards in total, with S6’s Matthew receiving a Special Mention, and Morgan (S5), Niklas (S6), Lucy (S6) and Euan (S6), were all Commended for their participation in their respective Committees.
This two-day conference is in its 22nd year and was attended by almost 200 pupils from over 25 schools. The conference offers opportunities for our pupils to learn about countries around the world, debate to a high standard about global problems, and meet other like-minded delegates.
Congratulations to all pupils on their MUNCH22 achievements, an excellent effort, and thank you to Mrs Keddie and Mrs Carey for organising and supporting our pupils with another memorable and valuable conference.
