Monastery Visit

Senior pupils enjoyed a trip to the Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Eskdalemuir, Dumfriesshire on Tuesday 29th October, 2019.

As part of their Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies course, the S4, S5 and S6 have been studying Buddhism in class. The 10 pupils enjoyed taking the trip after learning about the religion and Buddhist worship.

The pupils also enjoyed observing the monks and nuns performing the Mahakala Prayers, which makes use of symbols, gongs and incense.

This experience allowed the pupils to put their theoretical knowledge of Buddhism into real life context and deepen their understanding of the religion and culture.
