Transporting Grandparents and carers to the Outer Hebrides, this afternoon our P2 pupils performed their adaptation of Katie Morag.
Based on the book by Mairi Hedderwick, pupils have been learning about Katie Morag in class and performed on stage to round off their topic. Telling the story of Katie (Georgia) and the prize sheep (Magnus) who got stuck in the mud on Show Day, Katie, with the help of her Grannie Island (Òran) and fancy Grannie Mainland (Catherine), danced and performed brilliantly to save the day.
As Grandparents and carers sipped on their afternoon tea, our narrators stood with confidence to say their lines resulting in an array of colourful wellies on display to match the Hebridean scenery.
With Mr Furmedge on guitar, S4’s Edie and Isla on fiddle, Ms Wylie on piano, and a strong emphasis on the Scottish accent with their heavily rolled R’s, their rendition of “Ye Canny Shove Yer Grannie Aff A Bus” had the audience tapping their toes along to the beat.
Highland dancers, Elia, Lorna, Kira, Alex, Max and Nayla, performed a beautiful Highland fling routine in their tartan kilts, as well as the welly tossers Reid, Finlay, Aliyan, Gautam, Eesa and Ibrahim, who marched 500miles to the tune of the Proclaimers.
Following their performance, pupils led their Grandparents and carers into their classroom to share their artwork that was on display from their topic.
Our P2 pupils performed brilliantly – well done to everyone involved.
